Intermediary Organizations

There are a growing number of organizations, such as advertising cooperatives and other similar referral services, that may solicit your business through the internet and by direct mail. Usually they charge a fee that is paid directly by you or indirectly through the person to whom you are referred. These organizations frequently prey on the distressed debtor who is facing foreclosure, repossession and garnishment.

The Supreme Court of Tennessee found it necessary to regulate these organizations, and they are now required to register with the Tennessee Supreme Court as Intermediary Organizations.

Lawyers are prohibited from accepting a referral from an organization that is not registered with the Supreme Court of Tennessee.

Experience Is Critical In Bankruptcy Law

When your finances spiral out of control, obtain help from a skilled bankruptcy attorney. If you consult a general practitioner or an inexperienced bankruptcy lawyer, you may put your future at risk.

Filing for bankruptcy is an important decision based on a complicated area of the law. The majority of people who file for bankruptcy are able to keep their assets, including their home, vehicles, household possessions and retirement savings. This is possible through state and federal exemption laws. A skilled bankruptcy lawyer will know when to apply state and federal laws to help clients maximize the potential of the exemptions.

Every situation leading to a bankruptcy is unique. In some circumstances, couples may choose to file joint bankruptcy. Other times, filing for bankruptcy under one person’s name might be more advantageous to preserve a spouse’s credit score. Consult an experienced bankruptcy lawyer prepared to help you obtain debt relief based on your unique circumstances.
